Portfolio: Cayuga Renovation

What was once my client’s grandmother’s late-60s home—complete with Tiffany-blue carpet, pastel-painted walls, and original linoleum—has been completely reimagined for a new generation. For the young couple eager to start their family, taking on the property meant a full gut renovation down to the studs and an entirely new floor plan.

The result is a home that embodies Modern Heritage: timeless craftsmanship balanced with a fresh, lived-in elegance. Deep, moody cabinetry with brass hardware and natural stone counters anchor the design, while warm walnut details and light oak flooring soften the overall palette. Plaster accents lend a quiet sophistication, complemented by thoughtful contrasts—open wood shelving against subway tile, patterned mudroom flooring, and a bold, botanical powder room that steals the show.

Curated yet comfortable, the renovation marries European-inspired character with modern functionality. It’s a house that honours its roots while offering an enduring, inviting space for the next chapter of family life.
