When a family sets out to build their forever home, every decision carries a little more weight. For this project, that meant finding materials and details that could hold up to daily life without sacrificing an ounce of elegance.

We chose a leather-finished quartzite for the kitchen counters and hood, rich in tone and forgiving enough for everyday life. In the ensuite, a busy Viola marble tub surround makes a bold statement while hiding the wear that comes with a full household. The view from the tub stretches across the ravine toward downtown, and we wanted the space to feel worthy of it.

Getting from the mudroom to the kitchen is seamless, thanks to a hidden pantry door that reads as cabinetry from the kitchen side. Unlacquered brass hardware will patina beautifully over time. Site-finished oak floors, a Parisian-style kitchen nook with checkerboard marble, and a custom concrete mantle bring a formal European warmth throughout.

Grand enough to entertain in, relaxed enough to actually live in. This home earns both.
