Portfolio: Willow Ridge Renovation
This family of four needed a home that could handle real life without losing its soul. We landed on mid-century bones as our guide, but with two kids in the mix, everything had to stand up to daily wear and earn its keep.
The main floor is where we really got to play. The kitchen had been tucked away in a corner while the old dining room sat underused as a playroom. So we flipped the script, moved the kitchen into the former dining space so it could become the heart of the home. Transom windows added at the roof peak pull light deep into the rooms, shifting the mood from morning to night. Material-wise, we redesigned the kitchen, dining, family, and living areas with longevity in mind. Patina over perfection, always.
A few years later, we came back to refine the supporting spaces. The mudroom and laundry had been sharing the same footprint, and as life got busier, it made sense to give each its own room to breathe. We separated the two, designing a generous, open mudroom with built-in storage and a durable quartz bench that can take whatever gets thrown at it. The colour palette and overall feel stayed consistent with the original renovation, so everything flows naturally from room to room.
The powder room gave us a chance to lean into something moodier. Walnut paneling, Grey Cashmere Quartzite underfoot, and a Dekton counter that has this beautiful travertine-esque quality without trying too hard.
This is a home that's meant to be lived in, built to hold the mess and the milestones.
